Fics like Most Wonderful Time of the Year

“Why are you dressed in that costume?” Jim turned and looked down. A little girl with braided dark brown hair and pointy ears stared up at him with big dark eyes. He smiled, as he had been doing all afternoon. His cheeks had long since stopped hurting. But it was worth it for this lovely time of year. He knelt down so he was eye level with the girl. “It’s not a costume, it’s my work uniform. All of Santa’s helpers wear this.” Jim knew he looked ridiculous wearing a red undershirt with a dark green vest overtop, the pants matched the vest and stopped just past his knee to shoe the red and white striped tights the rest of the way down. The shoes had a little point to them and the hat he wore jingled every time he moved his head. The girl’s eyes narrowed in suspicion. “Santa Claus is a fictional, legendary character from folk tales commonly associated with the Terran holiday of Christmas. He is not real, and I do not believe you are a real employee of his.”
