Fics like wait for me

"i saw the news," says taehyung, breaking their silence. he sits back in his chair, chin tilted up, expression unreadable. he looks so different from how jeongguk remembers him. "you think that warrants you just—showing up here?" jeongguk slows his chopsticks on his way to his mouth, flickering his eyes up to taehyung's face. he studies it for a moment, looking for a trace of humor—or compassion. something jeongguk can go off of. but there's nothing. taehyung is too good at hiding his emotions. "it doesn't warrant anything," jeongguk says softly and chews on his next bite of food. "yoongi-hyung has never made me feel like a burden. everyone else... well, they don't understand. this felt like the only place i could go without answering too many questions." (or; jeongguk always turns to yoongi when things get too hard for him.)
