Fics like if it weren’t for second chances, we’d all be alone

“Oh! U-Uh, hey, Mr. Stark! I Uh- I tried to call Happy and he didn’t answer, and you said to call if I need you, and this sort of counts but it’s also more of a warning, but you didn’t leave your number with the note and I didn’t want you to get ambushed but I also don’t have a whole lot of time before she gets out here-“ “You’re rambling, Parker,” he says, bemused with a reluctant smile. “Right, sorry.” She takes a big breath, and then he can tell she’s trying to make it as short and sweet as possible. “May walked in on me in the suit after you dropped it off tonight and she spent an hour screaming and now she’s demanding to be able to scream at you, and yes I’m stronger physically, but mentally and emotionally, as she’s the only mother I have ever known, I am one thousand percent incapable of stopping her.” Tony takes a second to digest this. “You’re calling to warn me that your aunt wants to come and yell at me?” “Uh, yeah.” “I’m sorry,” Pepper says, raising an eyebrow, “did I just hear you correctly?” In the few months after Penny’s disastrous Homecoming night, the Stark and Parker families figure out how to find common ground.
