Fics like nothing worsens, nothing grows

Vi doesn’t realize her breathing has become sobbing until Caitlyn’s hand leaves her. Put it back, she wants to say and please don’t leave and yes, good, go, you can’t see me like this, and– “Vi.” Caitlyn’s impossibly-gentle hands brush away her tears, and her impossibly-gentle voice leaves bruises under Vi’s eyes where she usually presses the heels of her hands to keep from crying when she feels the barely-repressed need. “Vi, hey, it’s alright, we’ll figure it out, we’ll–” And then Vi realizes that, worse than crying, she’s apologizing. Her arms are wrapped around her body, right hand clasping left shoulder, left arm hugging her torso, and she’s bent over on the curb and she’s saying I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’msorryI’msorry OR in the aftermath of the explosion Jinx caused, Vi grapples with the brutality of being a sister.
