Fics like Echoes of an Elusive age

“Hendrik... You don't have to do that...” The man looked at the sword he was holding. A powerful aura emanated from it. “I know...”, he said. “But I am willing to do it. I cannot stand to miss this chance and not act.” “It isn't your duty...” “It is. I am the Luminary's shield, his sword, his unswerving companion. It is my duty to protect him. Therefore, I... there is someone else I vowed to stand by... I wish to honor my promise. Someone very important I failed... I want to save him, to prevent him from being consumed by the darkness... I want to do it for him.” “We won't change your mind, right? Then... Then farewell, Hendrik... or rather good bye. And good luck.” “...Thank you.” He lifted the sword and, without thinking twice, he smashed the orb before him. He was going back to the day it all started.
