Fics like friends on the other side

Just then, over Davey's shoulder, he sees a flash of movement on the staircase. He squints and leans to the side a little to get a better look. There's a kid coming down the stairs. A glowing, unnervingly pale, slightly translucent kid, who's dressed like he just stepped out of another century. He stops halfway down, looking at Jack with a worried expression, and Jack stares back, utterly confused. "What the fuck," Jack whispers, blinking hard, as if it'll clear his vision. When he opens his eyes, the kid is still there. "What are you doing in my house?" - newly married, jack and davey kelly-jacobs have just bought a fixer-upper home on an acreage upstate. it might be a piece of work, but it’s definitely not haunted… right?
