Fics like Beast Boy Izuku
Izuku is technically a runaway, not technically homeless, was adopted by cats, and doesn't get enough human interaction. He has eaten things he'd rather not think about, accidentally done some vigilantism, has a maybe slightly forced positive disposition, and a grand total of two motivations in life that keep him laser-focused on the future instead of processing his daily hardships in any capacity -- healthy or otherwise. He's got his work cut out for him, but he's never had a better chance to be a hero. He thinks he's doing pretty well, all things considered. Despite his circumstances and the lies he must tell to make his dreams happen, nothing will distract him from it. Not even the tired scowl of a cat-loving, too-sharp teacher with a built-in bullshit detector, honing in on him from day one. Or Izuku lives a tough life after his mom dies, and being a magnet for trouble, he doesn’t have time to think about anything except his next meal and the roof over his head, using his quirk to survive while he strives to follow his dream of being a hero. Lucky for him, he has an innate gift for being adopted by anything with a parental instinct. Whether it's a clowder of cats or a pro hero.
