Fics like Wading

“Let’s take the kids for a picnic.” Bob put down the Grulovian plant he’d been interrogating, fixing Helmut with a stare. “What?” “We can put together some snacks for them and the Feelmobile’s all fixed up, might as well take her for a spin,” he said. “We can drive them down to the lake and take the afternoon off. All Raz is talking about lately is learning to swim, he and Lili will be thrilled.” “Lili?” said Bob, and scratched behind his ear with a trowel. “I dunno, Helmut, I don’t – I don’t think she’d wanna spend time with me.” “Please, of course she will,” said Helmut gently, nudging against Bob’s ankle. “I – I don’t think Truman will want me around her...” “It’s been six weeks babe,” added Helmut quietly. “You’re doing good.” -- It’s been six weeks since everything with Maligula was resolved, and Bob and Helmut decide to take the kids for a picnic by the lake.
