Fics like Glue Myself Shut

Running away from your problems is never the solution, but maybe this wasn’t running away. Maybe it was removing himself from the family that he hurt with his “death”. Who he couldn’t continue to burden, especially with something like this. Maybe this type of cancer wasn’t a death sentence, but it definitely would make them feel obligated to care about him again. And as much as he wanted to go home, he didn’t want the reason to be out of obligation and not love. He’d always wanted to visit Maine anyway. Or Dick Grayson was diagnosed shortly after he came back from Spyral. His family is still angry, and he's alone dealing with Leukemia. This was his punishment. Dying all alone, his body killing itself. But maybe it's not. Because maybe the Coopers are exactly the people he needs to support him, and help him find his way back home.
