Fics like The Warlock's Mark

“Merlin, you’re the wizard here. You should know how to—” “Warlock,” Merlin corrected automatically. Arthur frowned. “No, you’re not.” His father had told him all about the difference between regular sorcerers and warlocks. Namely, sorcerers were humans who were corrupted by the allure of magic’s unnatural power. Warlocks were different; they weren’t human. They were magical creatures masquerading behind human facades. Warlocks were of the worst sort of bedtime story, keeping Arthur awake until every one of his candles had burned out and the shadows grew claws. Arthur may not have known Merlin had possessed magic for the first few years of their friendship, but he was damned sure he was human. -- Arthur learns he really needs to fact-check the things his father taught him about magic.
