Fics like Home is Where the Heart Is

“What’s up, Cass?” “I think something might be wrong with Uncle Bucky.” Sam pushed back on the part of him that was giddy anytime his nephews thought of Bucky as their uncle. There were more important things to worry about right now. “Well, you know he’s been through a lot before he came here and it’s….” “Not that,” Cass cut him off, pulling away slightly to look his uncle in the eye. “Like I mean something is really wrong right now. We were playing by the docks and he got a phone call. I don’t know who it was but whoever it was scared him. He made a weird sound and then threw it in the river.” “Threw what in the river?” “His phone.” “He threw his phone in the river?!” “Yeah,” Cass nodded like he was fully aware of just how crazy that sounded. “Just tossed the whole thing in the river and then tried to keep playing like that was totally fine.” Sam blinked. So that was… not normal. Or the time that Sam, and Bucky, realized that there was more to Bucky's family than just the Wilsons.
