Fics like the common ground we walk on

Samantha Barnes really doesn’t know how terrifying she is. “Oliver, hi. Come in,” she says warmly and steps aside, holding the door open just enough for him to step over the threshold into the foyer, as if he isn’t staring at her, wide-eyed and frozen, on her porch. Mark has long teased Oliver about his… reluctance around Samantha Barnes, but Oliver thinks his boyfriend is just blind to the facts. She may seem unassuming, with her tendency to stutter and smile and wear oversized sweaters that are frayed at the hems from how often she picks at them, but she is also still a director at one of the most powerful institutions with real influence over atypicals. Oliver knows that she’s got a vindictive streak a mile-wide. In which Oliver asks for Sam's blessing before proposing to Mark.
