Fics like Inverse Suspension

"The first settlers sentenced me to hang until dead. But I will not die of this, as you would. So here I still hang." "That's not fair," said Mordred, hating, as ever, how pathetic, how meaningless the words tasted in his mouth. "Ends justify means, little knight," replied the Hanged Man sadly, its voice soft. "I had to be punished. That was what was right. Didn't matter how." Mordred thought on that for a long minute, staring into the rusted metal ground, with every last thing he had done to be there vivid behind his eyes. Then he squared his shoulders, set his jaw, and drew his pistol out from his holster. "'Til dead’, you said, Merlin?” he asked, falsely casual, through gritted teeth. * Mordred chooses morality over duty. Drumbot Brian fulfils his sentence. And Arthur finally understands the prophecies that have guided his life.
