Bucky doesn’t mean to knock over Steve’s sketchbook when he’s dusting off the table by the sofa. Steve is shy about his doodles, not that he doesn’t trust Bucky with them. But he’s self critical, always thinking he didn’t perfectly capture Bucky, or that the sketches in the notebook of his plans might scare Bucky off. As if anything could chase Bucky away from Steve. Curiosity gets the better of Bucky, and he looks at the page that’s open. On the left side of the notebook is a beautiful portrait of him, enthralled in the book he was reading. Steve drew it from his own point of view, their feet tangled together on the couch under some blankets, Bucky leaning back against the arm of the sofa, worrying his lip with his teeth and focusing intently on the page. One of their cats is curled in Bucky’s lap below the book, and another is on the back of the sofa, directly by Bucky’s head. If Bucky remembers correctly, it was 2-3 weeks ago that he was reading that book. The right side of the notebook would make a pornstar blush. Bucky is getting hard just imagining Steve doing what he diagrammed. Bucky pulls the notebook’s little bookmark into that page and places it back on the end table. And then he hatches a plan.
