Fics like The Golden Mean

In one timeline, Erik was locked away in a plastic prison, Charles is a mess, and neither of them see each other for a decade. In this one, Charles Xavier, unable to sleep and out of serum, reaches out and touches Erik's mind in 1966, and everything changes. Charles can't leave an innocent man in jail, even (especially) if it's Erik. And Erik won't let Charles destroy himself and his gifts, hiding away from a world that desperately needs him. This time Erik isn't going anywhere, no matter how many times Charles tells him to leave.
