Fics like Sharing Responsibility

“But you shouldn’t be alone, Arthur.” Merlin’s eyes are sad, so sad and disappointed, he never wanted to make Merlin disappointed, it’s even worse than when his father used to be- “You have your councillors. Sure they speak a load of bull, but they can be helpful occasionally.” Arthur tries not to snort, glancing away, continuing to wipe at his face with the washcloth. He half-wishes Merlin would stop, but something tells him the prattle will soon turn interesting. And sure enough, the next words out of Merlin’s mouth are, “You could get a Queen.” In Arthur's humble opinion, Merlin comes up with the strangest ideas... But sometimes those ideas do turn into favourable outcomes. But this whole marriage thing may take it a bit too far...
