Fics like No Picnic

Brain rests a hand on Pinky’s arm, quieting his anxious ramblings. Their eyes meet, and the pain and fear in Pinky’s eyes make Brain’s heart ache. With his voice barely above a whisper, Brain asks “Why didn’t you tell me?” Once again, Pinky is afraid to answer honestly. But he’s already told Brain everything else, so maybe it’s time to admit this part too. “I didn’t wanna steal your spotlight.” The confession causes Brain’s eyes to widen in the firelight. — An epilogue for episode 13’s ‘Roadent Trip’—except there’s far more to Pinky’s past than he lets on. [CW animal abuse, animal testing, asphyxiation/choking on food, near frostbite and hypothermia]
