Fics like Up Above the Water

"But as he kicks a door in and looks down at the family of three huddled in the corner of this sandstone house, white hair and pleading red eyes register in his head as target. And Alphonse Elric lives another moment for every target he kills. Fullmetal pops the safety off his handgun and fires three times- BANGBANGBANG -right between those crimson eyes. He turns and stalks back out into the street, calvary skirt snapping around his knees as he holsters his pistol and retransmutes his automail blade to slice through the haphazard Ishvalan group trying to brandish muskets at his team. (Little al-che-mist, something cooes, and he ignores it as arterial spray arcs through the dry air. He has his orders.)" -- Or; Everything happens a bit earlier, and the Fullmetal Alchemist doesn't have his brother.
