“Oh!” She cried. “Goodness me, oh I’m terribly sorry,” Exclaimed a man. Her champagne had splattered across both their chests, the cold liquid sprinkling against her exposed skin. The glass had shattered against the wood floors, luckily the music drowned out most of the shriek. Before they could ask, a waiter was cleaning it up. Birdie’s hands fly to the man's chest, desperately trying to dry his waistcoat. As she did the man released a small handkerchief from his breast pocket and patted it across her own chest. “I am sorry,” He ignored the soft tenderness of her skin beneath his hands. “Excuse me,” he said softly, removing his hands from her. “Oh no, I’m sorry sir. It was entirely my fault,” she said, embarrassed. “No, no. I should have been paying attention,” he exclaimed. Birdie finally got a good look at the stranger. Now he was interesting. He was beautiful. He was soft and delicate, with sad eyes covered by small round glasses and ruffled brown subtle curls. His nose completely sculpted. She could swoon. He smiled at her. “Oh,” she gasped meekly.
