Fics like In the Care of the Napoleon of Crime

After Basil is injured during a case gone wrong, he expects to wake up back in Baker Street - not in Ratigan's lair. And if he did wake up in Ratigan's clutches, he wouldn't expect to wake in a comfortable bed with his wound treated and dressed rather than a damp cell. He certainly wouldn't expect the things that Ratigan is saying But to Ratigan, no one is allowed to touch Basil but him. If the only way to make sure that no one can attack the detective while he recovers is to keep him close, than so be it. And perhaps, in the meantime, he can 'convince' the detective to join him.
