Fics like Truly Great Madness

This story is very special to me. It was suggested by a friend of mine, Pam, back in 2012. Her username on ffnet and the NFA was channeld. She died very suddenly and never got to see this story's beginning. It was hard for me when she died and I almost stopped writing fanfiction altogether. However, I ended up writing it as a last tribute to a much-missed friend. Pam wanted to see a story in which Tim decided to pursue a Ph.D. but she waited until I was finished with my own doctorate to ask for it because of all the troubles I was having at the time. There were some very negative experiences I had as a graduate student. I often wished I could have started this story sooner so that she could have seen that I did it. Tim decides to go for his Ph.D. and finds more challenges than he bargained for in doing so.
