Fics like A Fox And His Earth

“Konoha is our home,” Naruto whispers as he stares up at him, eyes a burning blue and pupils slit like a fox. The words, unprompted as they are, sound like a vow. “The Great Tree must be protected. The rot burned away. We could not allow him to cut away an entire bough that could still be saved.” ‘Oh,’ Hiruzen thinks somewhat helplessly as he stares down at this prince of two villages that he in his weakness had left to be twisted and tainted like this, ‘oh may the gods see me damned.’ Or After yet another incident results in Naruto in the hospital and his assigned caretakers dead, Sarutobi gives Naruto to Danzo to raise and things take a rather abrupt step sideways.
