Fics like Closer

Kaeya should be better by now. It’s been well over a week, though, and Kaeya’s fever still hasn’t broken. Things are difficult between Kaeya and Diluc when Kaeya is delirious. They can be just as difficult when he’s lucid. He keeps asking why Diluc is here, and sooner or later, Diluc just might have to tell him. “Kaeya, shh, it’s okay,” Jean soothes. “Nothing bad is going to happen.” “You don’t understand,” Kaeya rasps. “I’ve damned them all. My people, my family… they all— they’ll all be turned to monsters…” Diluc considers turning around and leaving. He’s no good with this sort of thing. But he wants to be here for Kaeya. He wants to do better. Reluctantly, he steps inside. Kaeya’s eye is wide with fear as it lands on Diluc. “You heard that?” he asks, shakily. “I-I didn’t mean it. I don’t care about them anymore.” Diluc frowns. “What—“ “They’re not my people,” Kaeya insists. “Please. I’m on your side.”
