An unwise decision because it gives Kara the opportunity to answer, blue eyes bright with a smile to match. “Five years.” Lena inhales sharply, allowing a mouthful of water to be sucked down her windpipe. She coughs, so violently she’s certain she’ll hack up a lung. Kara rubs the space between her shoulder blades tenderly, asking if she’s alright but Lena can’t form a coherent thought much less a sentence.
