Fics like Burning from Within

Terra starts her new life without family, friends, or even an identity. With no other options, she accepts the Returner's protection as she tries to uncover her past. The more she learns about herself - the fire, the anguish, the beast inside - the more she comes to dread. It's not easy to open up to her new friends. They have their own issues and agendas, and Terra can't be sure how she fits into their lives. The same is not true of a young monk whose life is as open as hers and whose support is unburdened by geopolitical machinations. Deciding to take her life into her own hands, Terra allies herself with the former prince and joins the growing band of heroes. This is a retelling of Act 1 focusing on Terra's perspective, fluctuating from canon to suit my selfish motives. This Terra will be noticeably different from the one in the game - more adult themes require a more adult character. Although Terra is still at her core a brave and caring person, her thoughts and actions are influenced by trauma she can't fully remember and powers she can't fully understand. This may sometimes sound and feel like a gritty reboot, but I promise to always swing back to positivity.
