Fics like kneeled in shaking thrill

He takes Yusuf’s chin between his thumb and forefinger and lifts it up so their eyes meet. It speaks to the trust that they’ve gathered like frayed thread over the last month that Yusuf doesn’t try to slit his throat for it. He does tense, but it’s anticipation trembling in the hard lines of his body, not fear. The thumb of Nicolo’s other hand swipes the side of Yusuf’s mouth, where his beard gives way to bare skin. He brings it away, and dripping down the pad of his thumb is a fig seed, glistening in the orange firelight. “Oh,” Yusuf exhales, cheeks warm. - Yusuf and Nicolo, language barriers, and being bound together. A slightly post-crusades era fic with pining and resolved sexual tension.
