Fics like to go back to where the sky was inside us

When the phoenix bursts forth from Diluc's claymore, Kaeya takes a second to admire it—how it lights up the greyness that surrounds them, how its wings unfold as it takes flight. How it flies towards him with all the rage and grief and determination of its owner, ready to maim. He is ready, too. (an alternate reality where kaeya's vision doesn't manifest during the fateful night where his path and diluc's are supposed to diverge)
