Fics like Songs without words

The warm air enveloped him the second he pushed the door open with a shoulder nudge, sticky and thick, pipes squeaking and machines roaring, another realm in which he intruded. There, huddled on an uncomfortable plastic chair, a student had already claimed the laundry room as his own, glancing up at him with so much annoyance he almost backtracked immediately - then recognized the sharp features, slanted eyes, and big hands. His tongue stayed stuck on the roof of his palate, a weird nudge in his heart - of course, it had to be him; it was always him. * He knew of Eddy Chen. Not only because the con in Griffith University wasn’t that big - no recrudescence of tall Asian students acing the violin performance major - but because his shadow had been in every corner of Brett’s world, Eddy Chen’s name haunting him since what felt like forever.
