Kat and Patrick lounge on a blanket in the middle of a park — soaking in the summer sun and pretending that a couple containers of cheap takeout constitute a picnic. There is a storm gathering on the horizon, but according to the local news, it isn’t supposed to strike until later. They have time to waste. Time to linger in each other’s company and avoid talking about the anxieties of an uncertain future. Or, at least, Kat wants to avoid it. Patrick talks about it anyway.
