It is commonly associated with devotion and friendship because of the particular manner its leaves grow, as they go upside down and twirl out from the stem much like the twists, turns and growth of friendships. And yet, when he feels the rash building on the roof of his mouth and the tickle of pointed petal ends at the back of his throat, he’s forced to face it head on. Of course. Of fucking course he has the Hanahaki disease. Of course a plant decides to grow in his lungs just because he loves his best friend that doesn’t love him back.
