Fics like Wish Away These Lonely Days

“You can't really be a genie.” Regina frowns at the stranger before her. The woman may be unlike anyone she’s ever seen, with her hideous jacket and tight trousers, but she certainly doesn’t look like a wish-granting djinni. The self-proclaimed genie folds her arms. “Expecting someone taller?” she laughs. “What, do you wish I’d popped out with a big ol’ musical number?” Her fingers wiggle through the air in a mocking gesture, thick bronze cuffs peeking out from under her sleeves. “I—” Regina stops herself just in time. “I wish no such thing,” she growls. The genie’s face cracks into a crooked smile. “Eh, worth a shot.” . . Trapped under the thumb of her mother, the Queen of Hearts, Regina spends her days dreaming of escape. Then one day on her morning ride, she stumbles across a lamp. With three wishes and all the power of a genie on her side, freedom might finally be within her reach. Too bad said genie is an utter moron.
