Fics like in the absence of the sun

"Master," Anakin says suddenly as they approach the large hangar bay doors. "Do you... remember your mother at all?" Obi-Wan turns his head sharply. "What?" he replies, just as a thought comes floating to the surface of his mind, made of hot desert sands and kind smiles and goodbye hugs, years ago when he still had someone to turn to (but he never really could turn to Qui-Gon, could he, not when the man was too preoccupied with the mistakes he never had the chance to fix). (On a relief mission to Stewjon, Obi-Wan finds his roots.)
