Fics like if this is the last time

they both knew the truth—the timing just wasn’t right. when they finally had the conversation, they’d promised each other that they would wait. they’d consoled themselves with reassurances that once their lives weren’t so different, they could try again. they would have time—the rest of their lives. if they were just patient enough, they could have the rest of their lives. jeongguk slowly squeezes a fistful of sand, watching it spill over the sides of his hand. now the rest of their lives is five fucking hours. (or: three years after their break up—and on their last day on earth, just hours before a solar flare consumes the planet—jeongguk and yoongi learn to stay.)
