Fics like Ordinary Day

Willie goes about his chores and wonders if this is as good as it gets. And then bad things happen. When you find yourself in the midst of what you do and who you are, do you ever think that the most common of events could bring you joy? You would if you worked at the Old House, where even a sunset, or a cool breeze, or the pleasure of a simple chore reminds you that there is a life beyond the reach of your master.
