Fics like Sleeping Arrangements

That is not to say he isn’t afraid, there is still so much he does not understand about himself and Yusuf and God, the way his skin knits itself back together. Why is it him that is gifted such a thing when there were better men out there who deserved it? Here, tied to Yusuf in a dirty cell, yet stuck in a pleasant and comforting half-sleep, he is of the mind that maybe this is why. God wants him to spend eternity with this man, chasing raiders off from villages, and in the night curling around each other barely touching but loving one another just the same. Waiting until the day Nicolo finally gathers the courage to touch his companion purposefully and then maybe at that moment, mankind discovers heaven. (Or the many ways in which Joe and Nicky sleep over the centuries.)
