Fics like Agapé (home is in your arms)

“You know,” he says, eleven days after he started bringing Lan Xichen his lunch, “the Grand Master has added another twenty rules in these last two weeks alone.” The door is closed and he’s leaning back against it, forearm braced on his knee as he lounges on the step. From inside, he hears a soft snort that sounds like Lan Xichen heard him. “Including one specifically about not having any kind of spices in the kitchens, which feels really petty, if you ask me. And one stating, specifically, that no one is,” he mimics the low timbre of Lan Qiren’s voice and the way the older man strokes his beard even though he can’t be seen, “Do not approach or talk to Wei Wuxian.” He huffs out a breath, “Talk about making someone feel unwelcome, Zewu-Jun. I don’t know if I should be honoured or heartbroken that I have become so hated that I have been immortalised on your wall of rules.” Lan Xichen is in isolation. Wei Wuxian visits him. Together they find their way back to happiness, to clarity and to home.
