Fics like Seal of approval

“You are right,” Lan Qiren quietly tells him, after Lan Xichen puts a steadying hand on his shoulder. “Your core is strong and well developed, but you’re using less than half of the potential you have. Your potential is almost endless; you certainly have more than Wei Wuxian, and maybe even more than Wangji has.” “I see,” Jiang Cheng whispers as those words hit him. So he could be better if only he tried harder, Jiang Cheng thinks, and the thought is accompanied by the now so familiar frustration. “But it’s not your fault that you can’t access your full potential,” Lan Qiren goes on and when his face goes hard Jiang Cheng flinches back. “Part of your core has been sealed.” That makes Jiang Cheng freeze. “What?” he whispers as panic bubbles up inside of him. “Sealed?”
