Fics like Building Bridges

Forget all worries about scrutiny, any attempt on Jim’s life risks passing the Amulet on to a potentially stronger, more stubborn opponent than a human child. But it’s only funny until Gunmar and his forces realize they’ve landed one of the weirdest bodyguard operations in history. An AU where Gunmar and Bular grapple with an ancient curse, the Gumm-Gumms are more than an army, and the Eternal Night isn’t about blocking out the sun. (It's basically villains arguing over how to properly manipulate Jim while slowly realizing that if anything happens to him, they'd kill everyone in this room and then themselves.)
