"The Will of Fire is what gives us strength to protect our comrades, what makes us choose them over contracts. When Madara and I founded this village it was so no child ever had to be stuck on the battlefield once more. When the village was up and running we realized that didn’t mean shit if those same children were still being left orphans.” Hashirama lets his words resound in the people, just as he did the first time. “One man can neither start nor end a war.” Hashirama says firmly, “if that were the case, then I am solely responsible for the start of the first shinobi war and therefore a traitor to Konoha.” “You are not.” Danzo says sharply. He looks strange, Hashirama notes, is acting off though he can’t put his finger on it. “No, I was never called a traitor.” Hashirama agrees before glancing down at Kakashi. There’s only one person he needs to convince and it’s the child next to him. “Not that any of that matters, because it still doesn’t answer the question of why a child is expected to dig his own father's grave." Alternatively: the shinigami meddles, Hashirama is sent forward, and Kakashi rebuilds his family again.
