Fics like rasp of scales on tender skin

Zuko is a dragon, but does not know until the shocking agony of the Agni Kai forces him to change, sending him fleeing from his old life as the Fire Nation prince. Alone, severely injured, and unable to change back, he collapses on the property of a certain established Earth Kingdom family. And, well, there's simply nothing better than having a dragon around as a seeing eye animal to convince your parents you're safe enough to get into all sorts of mischief. (AKA, Zuko is a dragon and is inducted into the Beifong family as a seeing eye animal but is mostly just Toph's friend. And the Avatar happens.)
