Jaskier is a victim of a spell that's supposed to make him take the form of whatever animal is inside his soul. Geralt expects a lark, maybe a blue jay or some songbird. What he gets is a huge cat with jaws capable of biting a man's arm off. He's not sure why he's surprised.
