Fics like Burning in Blue

Sokka's eight years old when he learns the dark and sobering truth that changes his life forever: he's a firebender. Unable to accept the truth himself, let alone share the truth with others, he lives in denial and repression for years until the Avatar comes along. As they travel across the globe, Sokka wrestles with his identity and his views on those who practice firebending. Are they all evil? If they are, does that mean he is, too? Told as a series of one-shots at different points throughout the series in chronological order through Sokka's POV.
