Fics like Out in the Open

After Paul Forrester encounters Mark Shermin, who left his government job in disgrace and is now teaching at a small college, Mark writes a book with everything he has learned from the alien. Even though he has left out all identifying information about the father and son, the book becomes such a phenomenon (and a feast for the tabloids) that Paul and Scott are forced to live apart to avoid detection. On his own again, Scott faces many challenges and learns more about his powers as Paul searches for Jenny. When the tabloids get too close to the truth, only a daring and potentially disastrous response will give the father and son any hope of remaining a family.
