Fics like the flames didn't steal you away (i did)

this warmth, the warmth that spreads through his fingers and toes and persuades his eyes closed is nothing like the fire. this warmth is jeongguk. this warmth is safe. “love you too, hyung. love you so much.” there’s pain in jeongguk’s tone - remembrance - but there’s adoration too, and even though yoongi’s not sure he deserves these words or kisses or multitudes of love, he accepts them nonetheless. he breathes jeongguk in, tastes him on his tongue: honey, not ash or smoke. he feels jeongguk’s lips quirk up into a smile, lets their lips part as jeongguk’s forehead knocks gently against his. they sit there for a moment, in each others presence, inhaling the others’ soothing breath, life, in serene silence. (take it all in, this moment, this magic, the fading of fear, yoongi tells himself. safety.) he thinks that, maybe like this - right here - they could live off of each other’s air forever. and wouldn’t that be the most beautiful moment in life?
