Fics like On Soulmates

Shuten Douji has more soulmarks than he can count. They cover every inch of him, like a full-body tattoo, laid so densely it’s very nearly difficult to discern the skin beneath. He loves all of them, knows the names and faces that go with any he’s met, even once – mourns whenever one turns to deadened white. One day, a spray of marks across the back of his shoulders go white, all at the same time. Over top, a new mark burns in, stark black, larger than most his others: four swords, crossed behind the Minamoto-mon.
