Until his metacrisis, his role and identity were quite clear and well defined: he was the Doctor in his TARDIS, travelling the universe, saving the day on occasion, but for the most part, just having a jolly good time of it. Truth is, he’s got no more TARDIS. No more direct access to the universe. And as much as he’d like to convince himself otherwise, he’s not quite the Doctor anymore either. Not quite Time Lord, not quite human. Now that he’s been stripped of all these things that made him…him, what does that make him, exactly?
