Fics like Castlevania: Birth of the Dragon.

The one known as Dracula was not always a monster. Long before threatening all of Europe and the world, before his eternal conflict with the Belmont clan, he was a man named Mathias Cronqvist. A flawed, conflicted, genius of a man, well beyond his time. How did the educated, aristocratic, valiant crusader who so reverently, and brutally served the church and God, become not just a vampire, but eventually the Dark Lord himself, the opposing force to God? From a very young age, a road shaped with terrors and tragedy led the brilliant man down the path into becoming the king of all evil. This is his story.
