Fics like Came for the trouble, stayed for the heart

Asgard is threatened. Thor goes to Jotunheim with war on his mind— he comes back with a Jotun hostage. He is, uh, not exactly sure how to handle that. The Jotun, Loki, isn't helping of course. It's going to be a long winter. "When Thor had left earlier that day, he had expected to return triumphant: Laufey defeated by his own hand and sorcery lifted. Instead he now found himself in the golden observatory with Laufey’s son— a Jotun mage— and no change to the frosty snap in the air. Thor’s breath came out as mist in front of his face, obscuring Loki’s curious expression as he looked around. From the dais, Heimdall watched them disapprovingly. Thor avoided meeting his eyes."
