Fics like We Give and We Give

Peter Parker has lost a lot of people, but he still does his job alongside the Avengers - being a superhero. And besides fighting bad-guys, it's the job of a super-hero to give of themselves to help others. And to give. And to give. And to give. Until they don't have anything else left. Peter doesn't realize that he's hollowing himself out until he starts trying to help Deadpool. If Peter can help Deadpool not kill people, the Avengers are happy, and so is everyone else - so Spiderman should do all he can. Right? Sometimes, the 'greater good' shreds is most loyal followers, and it takes a special kind of person to put them back together again.
