Fics like Ugly Duckling

Emma Swan is the opposite of a beauty queen. She likes her hair up and her shoes comfortable and couldn’t care less about the Storybrooke Beauty Pageant, run by her mother and former contestant Mary Margret. The pageant happens annually in her town and Emma avoids the mob scene of makeup like the plague. Things start to turn upside down when Emma decides to write an expose for her school newspaper about the superficial scandals that happen within the pageant. Emma may be competing undercover but will she learn that the world of beauty is less superficial and a little more beautiful than she originally thought?
